Turkey Time

The 2008 Turkey Trot is officially over and I am sOOOOOOOO relived! Anytime you put together a special event there is alot of work required and you prey it all goes as planned! It was a success with over 1,700 runners and a new chip timing system eveything went great! The true test will be Monday when I review the income vs. expenses I thinking a solid $30,000 net for the YMCA!!!! I got to the Y Thursday morning around 5:30 am and Eric and I left around 11:45 am. All the runners were gone and the Y was closed the rest of the day! Oh, I haven't mentioned that my wonderful husband ran his first 5 mile road race in alittle over 53 min. I was so proud of him, and I was able to see him come across the finish line. I must say he was so cute in his "basketball shorts" and Augie head band! I was really proud of him this is something he has wanted to do since I became the chair of the race three years ago!

After we got home, I started cooking,it was just Eric, his mom, and the kids and I for a HUGE MEAL. We ate around 5:30 pm. I tried really hard this year to cook healthier. So, I made stuffing with "100% whole wheat lite bread," fresh green beans, roasted veggies, anda crustless pumpkin pie." We did have some traditional things as well Eric's mom's mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, etc. etc. After dinner Eric took his mom home and I hit the couch at 8:30 pm. I didn't move until Eric hollared at me from the bedroom at 3:45 am wanting to know if I was going shopping?

So, I hit the floor running for the second day in a row. I went shopping by myself this year and I must say I was OK with that. My first stop was Kohl's for two items. No problem, I got right in the store found what I wanted AND waited in the check out line for 52 min. exactly! UGGG! After leaving Kohl's and realizing Target opened at 6 am, I went to stand outside in the very very long line for 15 min. until the store opened! Once I got into Target I full out sprinted to the "BIG WHEEL" I wasnted to get Jude that was marked down $10, and the Camp Rock DVD for Anna that was also marked down. Thank goodness I didn't have to wait in any check out lines! Next stop was KMART, I guess nobody was there, I didn't have to wait anywhere and found the AA Baby Alive for Anna. I then came home for some left over Turkey and headed back out to Staples. Over-all it was a great morning. Eric (Clark Griswold) has officially put up our outside Christmas lights, he did a great JOB! Cruise by some evening to see for yourself. He is like alittle kid in a candy store about Christmas. Next weekend were off to get the tree, I'll keep you posted!

We will have to come by to see the house. I heard he was the GRISWOLD of the Rowell family. LOL how funny never would have thought that. Your turkey day sounded like it was fun full of tradition and family. It really doesn't get any better than that.
