Well I yet survived another week as a single parent and I must say if I keep things structured I've got it made! Timing is everything, the kids and I got along great! Amazingly how alittle routine makes things run smoothly. I'm not saying we don't normally have routines / structure in our lives but there are more nights than not that we gotta be here or gotta go there.
Anna attended Summer Fun Club at the Y this week. She had a great time, Monday they went Cosmic Bowling, Wednesday they went to Camp Abe Lincoln, and Thursday they went to "Rocket Park." It was nice having her in the Y again and getting to see her interact with the older kids. I only had to reminder her twice throughout the week that, "we don't speak like that in our house." She sometimes picks up alittle slang / attitude and I'm not rolling with it! Anna was my little helper all week she listened wonderfully all the while wondering when her daddy was coming home.
I would be remise if it didn't brag alittle about her, everyday Anna has homework. This includes a worksheet and writing a story and drawing pictures. So one night this week she was writing her story, sounding out the words and putting on paper what she hears. So here is the entry
on June 24, 2008
"Once francenstin was looking at me."
"And I ranaway."
Yup that's my 6 year old. I was absolutely amazed at her spelling the word frankenstien. I don't even know how to spell it SHE IS AN AMAZING KID!
As for Jude another week in the Y Learning Center, he painted, went to kids gym, was supposed to go to the Zoo (but cancelled due to RAIN!) and attend swimming lessons on Tuesday and Thursday. He loves swimming almost as much as his sister. All week he asked where daddy was, but then Thursday evening when we went to the airport to pick him up Jude announced that Daddy was coming home from Boston!
Eric did arrive safely from Boston 2 hours late, we were all very happy to see him. While in B-town he caught a RedSox game, checked out the NBA hall of fame where he got to shoot a few hoops, and worked out at a YMCA. It's always an adjustment when he gets home, the kids quickly re-relate to him, he gives me a few hours "off" and our lives are back to a family of four. I think I miss him the most when I have a tough day at work, he has a great listening ear.
The weekend is here, and we're looking forward to hanging out!
I'll get some pictures of the kids this weekend, nothing "planned" at this moment but with our busy lives that can change in a matter of minutes.
