Cultural Awareness...

I started off my day at 6:30 am! Yup, that is unheard of if you know me! Anyway... I have been wanting to go to the Davenport Farmers Market all summer, but haven't made it until today. At 7 am I picked up a friend that hasn't been to a Fresh Market since moving to the US. We enjoyed our morning, discussing the different fresh fruits and vegetables grown here in the US compared to those grown in her country! We both learned from each other!

This afternoon we went to a "Naming Celebration" for a Bhutanese baby girl that was born one week ago. She is beautiful and the first American Citizen in her family. What a blessing. Eric, the kids and I enjoyed some delicious food prepared by the women of the community. The men had performed a traditional ceremony earlier in the day to give the baby her name. What a wonderful opportunity to share and learn about another culture. Both Anna and Jude thought nothing of being in the home of people whom speak a different language, dress differently, and eat differnet food than we do.

It was such a rewarding day I am so thankful that the Lord is using me as his hands and feet.
