Well we arrived yesterday morning after 3 hours of sleeping in the car Saturday night enroute to Chicago. Our flight was at 7 am so we made the best of it and slept on and off the planes the entire day. We saw Danny Glover at the airport in Detroit during our lay over. Once we arrived in D.C. we checked into our hotel and headed off to check the "MALL" area out where the Music Concert was going on. As we get off the "public transportation" we come out of the underground tunnel to John Cougar Mellencamp singing and a view of the Washington Monument SPECTACULAR! We then decide to walk around checking things out listening to the great music; Usher, Stevie Wonder, Garth Brooks, along with many others BUT THEN... our favorite BONO takes the stage! I'm loving every minute of this!!!!! Singing, Crying, you name it! Wait... mind you we were watching this on a JUMBO TRON- nope no way to get close enough with that many peopel, but just being here is enough! After the concert we headed to the Vietnam Memorial and the White House. PEOPLE everywhere, all the streets are blocked off, only foot traffice through D.c. The security is fanatastic and AMERICANS are so PROUD! We headed to China town last night for dinner along with a gazillion other folks. Enjoyed our dinner with an "Obama Delagate fro North Carolina." Today we visited the National Archives to see The Bill of Rights and The Consitiution. While we were there we also got pictures with Dusty Baker (former Manager for the Cubs.) Since we are Sox fans we didn't give him to hard of a time. Nice Guy, Eric chatted it up with him. Anyway back to the Archives, It's amazing that these are the documents our great country was founded on and for my entire life I have only read about them, but know to have seen them is an honor. For lunch we meet up with and Augie Alum and his wife. He works for the Federal Reserve and lives here in DC. What an interesting job he has and the challenges they are facing with our economy. So, we've landed back at the hotel for a few hours before dressing up and heading out to some fancy French restaurant Eric reserved. Tomorrow's the BIG day, we are planning to watch the parada and then head over to the Lincoln Memorial where HISTORY IS GOING TO TAKE PLACE!
TOO CUTE... Last night when we called home to talk to the kids, Jude says to me, "I saw you on TV momma." Yup, I told him the one in the red coat right, and he agreed. TOO CUTE.
I'll get some pictures posted when we get home. Loving this time and looking forward to tomorrow!
