Obviously the title of this entry is appropriate considering the Trick or Treats have begun. We attended our second event tonight, here is a low down of the Rowell Family Festivities:
1. Costume Party last Saturday afternoon in MOMO with my sister.
2. Trick or Treating at Augustana College at the Girls Dorm: Tonight.
3. Friday - both kids have school parties.
4. Neighborhood Trick or Treat night.
I have PREPPED both Anna and Jude this year with a lecture I gave a couple weeks ago while dicussing junk food (foods that aren't' healthy.) Basically I told them that we can eat alittle junk food as long as we keep it in moderation. So, every chance Jude gets he asks me, "Mom if I eat this is it in moderation." Truthfully, I think the kid is clueless on what moderation means but at least he has a new vocabulary word.
I have also signed up to take treats to both kids schools on Friday, this is what I'm taking.
1. Jude - Apples we picked from the orchard with Fat Free Caramel Dip
2. Anna - "Chocolate Ghosts" - I found this recipe on Kraft.com it's with Sugar Free Chocolate Pudding, Fat Free Kool Whip, and 2 mini chocolate chips. A Healthy Choice I believe!
As for the trick or treaters I'm going to have to stand my ground with Eric as I'm positive he is going to want me to purchase candy. But I'm thinking the "little tubs of play dough!"
And as for all the candy the kids recieve it will go into a bowl on top of the fridge. They each can have one piece a day until all the "favorites" are gone and then after three months the left overs will go in the garbage.
I challenge you this year if you are a parent, be creative, give something other than empty calories. The 100 calorie packs are great, pencils, and or the play dough is sure to be a hit!
Happy Halloween, Picture to follow if I can just find my darn camera!

I have thought about that too..giving out pencils or play dough, or even little toys..they are pretty cheap now too, about the same price as candy!
Happy Halloween!
