I remember when I was a youngster every summer, "working corn." I'm not sure if I did much back then other than steal a few bites of the sweet delicious peaches and cream corn that my mom, aunts, and grandma spent hours "working." Well... my friends I "worked the corn" today. Since I don't have a garden I spend many weekends going to the farmers market therefore I decided this weekend to buy three dozen ears of corn. It was great, once I got Eric to go get me two bags of ice for the ice bath. I used the electric knife to cut the kernals off the cob since I couldn't find the "tool" that we used when I was a kid. (I later found this utinsel on the internet for $10) Anyway... It will be great this winter to eat "fresh frozen" corn out of my freezer! Mom and Grandma should be proud! YUMMY!
The kitchen is 99% done, and yes Eric was surprised! I'll post a few pictures later.
As for the rest of the weekend, Anna had her little friend Viktoria from Iceland spend the night last night. They went to preschool together at the y two years ago, and are best friends! Viktoria and her family will be going back to Iceland in October since her dad will be graduating from Palmer. It was so nice to see Anna play so independantly with her friend. Between coloring, playing Polly Pockets and dress up they kept very busy. And little brother didn't get in their way to much. They all camped out in the front living room in sleeping bags and had a big pancake beakfast this morning before church.
Ahh, just seems like yesterday I was spending the night at a friends house.
